The VALUE COLLECTION 88547641 is a cup point set screw designed for secure, friction-based fastening in mechanical assemblies. Manufactured from Grade 8 alloy steel, this fastener delivers high tensile strength and resistance to shear forces, making it well suited for demanding industrial and trade applications. The cup point geometry bites into the mating surface to resist rotation and axial movement without requiring a through-hole. Drive is a 5/32-inch hex (Allen) key socket. Thread size is 5/16-18 UNC with an overall length of 1 inch. Sold in a package of 25 pieces.
This set screw is commonly used in shaft-to-hub connections, collars, pulleys, sprockets, and similar rotating components across HVAC, mechanical, and general industrial equipment. The UNC thread form is the standard inch-series coarse thread, compatible with tapped holes in steel, cast iron, and aluminum assemblies. The cup point is the most widely used set screw point type for general-purpose locking where surface marking of the shaft is acceptable. Installers in maintenance, repair, and OEM assembly operations will find this a standard stock item.
Designed as a standard 5/16-18 UNC cup point set screw for use in any tapped 5/16-18 threaded hole requiring a headless, flush-mount fastener in mechanical assemblies.
Installation requires a 5/32-inch hex key or Allen wrench. Ensure the tapped receiving hole is clean and free of debris before threading. Torque to the fastener manufacturer or assembly specification appropriate for Grade 8 alloy steel at this thread size. Never reuse a set screw that shows signs of deformation at the cup point or drive socket, as engagement integrity may be compromised.
