The VALUE COLLECTION 882-040 is a Schedule 80 PVC threaded pipe nipple designed for use in pressure-rated piping systems where corrosion resistance and chemical compatibility matter. Measuring 1/2 inch in pipe size and 4 inches in length, this nipple is molded in gray PVC and features NPT threads on both ends for direct connection to threaded fittings, valves, or equipment ports. Schedule 80 wall thickness provides greater pressure capacity compared to Schedule 40, making it suitable for demanding plumbing and industrial fluid-handling applications. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of component in both new construction and retrofit work.
This nipple is appropriate for residential and light commercial plumbing, irrigation systems, chemical transfer lines, and industrial process piping where PVC is a code-acceptable material. The 1/2 inch size fits common branch lines and instrument connections. Gray Schedule 80 PVC nipples are widely used in applications where metal pipe would be subject to corrosion, including pool equipment rooms, chemical feed systems, and saltwater environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation component for 1/2 inch NPT threaded PVC piping systems using Schedule 80 fittings and valves.
Installation is typically performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and ASTM standards for PVC pressure piping. Apply a PVC-compatible thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly and tighten to hand-tight plus a moderate wrench turn — do not overtighten, as PVC threads can crack under excessive torque. Shut off and depressurize the system completely before removing or installing any threaded component. PVC pipe and fittings should not be used in systems carrying compressed air or gas, or in service above the material temperature rating.
