The VALUE COLLECTION 851-0156 is a double-end, four-flute square end mill designed for general-purpose milling operations in metal fabrication and machining environments. Built from high speed steel (HSS) with a bright uncoated finish, it measures 5/32 inch (0.1563 inch) in cutting diameter and carries a 7/8 inch (0.8750 inch) length of cut. The 3/16 inch straight shank fits standard collets and tool holders. With a 30-degree helix angle and right-hand cutting direction, this end mill is suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling tasks where HSS tooling is appropriate. Machinists and tool-and-die technicians are the primary users. The long-length classification allows reach into deeper workpiece features without extended-reach tooling.
This end mill is used in manual mills, CNC knee mills, and light CNC machining centers where HSS tooling performs well on steel, aluminum, brass, and similar machinable materials at moderate cutting speeds. The double-end design provides two usable cutting ends, extending tool life between purchases. The Series 851 long-length configuration is particularly useful when standard-length end mills lack sufficient reach for the workpiece geometry. It is not center-cutting, so plunge milling is not a recommended operation with this tool.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct substitute end mill for standard 3/16 inch straight-shank collets and tool holders used in manual and CNC milling machines accepting fractional-inch HSS end mills in the Series 851 long-length class.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the 3/16 inch straight shank fully into the collet or end mill holder and torque the retention mechanism per the tool holder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning cuts, and confirm spindle speed and feed rate are appropriate for the workpiece material and tool diameter before engaging the cut.
