The VALUE COLLECTION 848-012 is a Schedule 80 PVC pipe end cap with a female iron pipe thread (FIPT) end connection, sized for 1-1/4 inch pipe. End caps are used to terminate a pipe run, capping off the end of a threaded line to stop flow or seal a system for pressure testing. The Schedule 80 wall thickness gives this fitting higher pressure ratings and greater impact resistance compared to Schedule 40, making it suited for demanding plumbing, industrial, and chemical distribution applications. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting by hand-threading onto a male-threaded pipe end, typically with thread sealant tape or compound to ensure a leak-free joint.
This end cap is designed for use in residential and commercial piping systems where PVC is specified for corrosion resistance and lightweight handling. Typical applications include potable water distribution, irrigation systems, industrial fluid handling, and drain-waste-vent (DWV) laterals requiring a threaded termination. The FIPT connection threads directly onto standard male NPT pipe ends, making integration into existing threaded PVC or CPVC systems straightforward. It is well suited for use in chemical processing environments where metal fittings are not appropriate.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 1-1/4 inch Schedule 80 PVC threaded piping systems using standard NPT male pipe ends.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter. Shut off system pressure and drain the line before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply thread sealant tape or approved pipe compound to the male threads before engagement, and tighten to hand-tight plus a partial turn — do not overtighten PVC threads as the material can crack. Follow applicable IPC and local plumbing code requirements for pressure testing after installation.
