The VALUE COLLECTION 84024644 is a 4-64 round threading die made from high-speed steel (HSS) for cutting external threads on small fasteners and precision components. The 4-64 designation indicates a No. 4 screw diameter with a 64 threads-per-inch pitch, placing this in the ultra-fine thread category used in instrument work, electronics assembly, and miniature mechanical assemblies. The adjustable design allows the operator to fine-tune thread fit by compressing or expanding the die slightly using the set screw on the die holder. Right-hand thread direction follows the standard convention for the vast majority of threaded fastener applications. Machinists, toolmakers, and maintenance technicians reach for this type of die when threading small-diameter rod or repairing damaged threads on precision hardware.
This die is suited for bench work and machine shop use where fine-pitch, small-diameter external threads are required. Typical applications include threading instrument screws, electronic enclosure fasteners, optical equipment components, and similar miniature hardware. The HSS construction handles both manual and low-speed machine tapping setups. It is appropriate for use in light manufacturing, maintenance and repair operations, and precision assembly environments where consistent thread form on No. 4 diameter stock is critical.
Designed as a standard round die compatible with die stocks and holders sized to accept round threading dies for No. 4 series thread cutting.
This die is installed and used by machinists and maintenance technicians following standard threading procedures. Secure the die firmly in an appropriately sized die stock before use, and apply cutting fluid to the workpiece to reduce friction and extend die life. Inspect the workpiece diameter against the thread specification before threading to ensure proper stock size. Do not force the die on undersized or oversized stock, as this can damage thread form and reduce die service life.
