The VALUE COLLECTION 839-212 is a Schedule 80 PVC pipe bushing designed to reduce a 1-1/2-inch male iron pipe thread (MIPT) down to a 1-1/4-inch female iron pipe thread (FIPT) connection. PVC construction provides corrosion resistance in wet and chemical environments. The Schedule 80 wall thickness delivers higher pressure tolerance compared to Schedule 40 fittings of the same size. This bushing is installed by licensed plumbers and pipefitters in both new construction and retrofit applications where a threaded pipe size reduction is required.
This fitting is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing systems, irrigation lines, and industrial piping runs where PVC threaded fittings are specified. The MIPT x FIPT configuration allows it to thread directly into a female-threaded fitting or valve body while accepting a smaller male-threaded pipe or nipple on the inlet side. It is commonly used in water distribution, drainage bypass headers, and chemical handling piping where metal corrosion is a concern and PVC is code-acceptable.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-install fitting compatible with Schedule 80 PVC threaded piping systems using 1-1/2-inch to 1-1/4-inch threaded connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Shut off and depressurize the water supply before disassembling any threaded connection. Apply PTFE tape or an approved pipe thread sealant to the male threads before assembly. Do not overtighten PVC threaded fittings, as excessive torque can crack the fitting body.
