The VALUE COLLECTION 833184PS is a metric set screw engineered for precision clamping and positioning applications in mechanical assemblies. This fastener features a dog point tip, which extends beyond the threaded body to engage a mating hole or slot in a shaft, providing positive location and resistance to rotational slippage. Manufactured from alloy steel at Grade 14.9 (45H), it delivers high tensile and torsional strength suited to demanding industrial and mechanical service. The black oxide finish provides mild corrosion resistance and reduces light reflection. Drive is via a 6 mm hex key socket.
This set screw is used in power transmission assemblies where a hub, collar, pulley, gear, or sprocket must be positively located on a shaft. The dog point engages a drilled dimple or cross-hole in the shaft, preventing both axial and rotational movement under load. Typical installation environments include machine tool components, conveyor systems, and industrial drive assemblies. Installation is performed by mechanical technicians and machinists using a 6 mm hex key or Allen driver. The M12 x 1.75 thread and 60 mm overall length make this suitable for medium-to-heavy-duty collar and hub applications.
Designed as a standard metric replacement or service fastener for mechanical assemblies requiring DIN 915 or ISO 4028 compliant M12 x 1.75 dog point set screws.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or mechanical technicians. De-energize and lock out all machinery before installing or removing set screws in rotating assemblies, following applicable LOTO procedures. Use a calibrated torque wrench with a 6 mm hex bit and apply torque in accordance with the equipment manufacturer's specifications for Grade 14.9 fasteners. Do not reuse a set screw that shows thread damage, deformation of the dog point, or rounding of the hex socket.
