The VALUE COLLECTION 833176PR is an M12 x 1.75 x 30 mm dog point set screw manufactured from alloy steel to Grade 14.9 (45H). It features a hex drive socket and a black oxide finish that provides moderate corrosion resistance and reduces galling during installation. The dog point extension at the tip locates into a mating hole or slot on a shaft, preventing lateral movement without the risk of shearing a fragile component. This screw conforms to DIN 915 and ISO 4028 dimensional standards. Maintenance technicians, millwrights, and mechanical assemblers use this fastener in industrial machinery, drive assemblies, and shaft-collar applications where positive axial retention is required.
This set screw is suited for applications where a shaft or component must be locked against rotation or axial movement. The dog point tip seats into a drilled detent on the shaft, providing a mechanical positive-stop that a flat or cup point cannot replicate. Typical uses include locking shaft collars, sprockets, pulleys, and couplings in conveyor systems, pumps, and general industrial equipment. The M12 x 1.75 thread size and 30 mm overall length address mid-range shaft diameters common in light-to-medium industrial machinery.
Designed as a metric DIN 915 and ISO 4028 conforming dog point set screw suitable for standard M12 x 1.75 threaded holes in shaft collars, couplings, pulleys, and similar mechanical components.
Installation is performed by millwrights or mechanical technicians using a 6 mm hex key or Allen driver. De-energize and lock out all rotating machinery before installing or removing set screws. Ensure the mating shaft has a properly sized dog point detent drilled to receive the point diameter before seating the screw. Do not exceed the torque capacity of the fastener by using extension bars on the hex key, as alloy set screws at this grade are sensitive to overtorque failure at the drive socket.
