The VALUE COLLECTION 812008PS is a metric hex lock nut with a nylon insert locking mechanism, designed to resist loosening caused by vibration and torque. Manufactured from Class 8 steel with a zinc finish for corrosion resistance, this nut meets DIN 985 standards and features an M3x0.5 thread size with right-hand threading. The nylon insert deforms around mating threads to create a secure, prevailing-torque lock without damaging the fastener. At 5.50 mm across flats and 4.00 mm in height, it is suited for compact assemblies where space and thread integrity both matter. Typically installed by mechanical assemblers, maintenance technicians, and trade professionals across HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and industrial applications.
This lock nut is used in metric fastener assemblies requiring a reliable locking solution under vibration or dynamic load conditions. Common applications include equipment panels, bracket mounting, fan assemblies, and light-duty structural connections in both residential and commercial mechanical systems. The nylon insert style is preferred when repeated disassembly is anticipated, as it retains locking force over multiple removal and reinstallation cycles without the need for adhesive thread-locking compounds. Sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 100 units.
Designed as a DIN 985-compliant metric hex lock nut compatible with standard M3x0.5 threaded fasteners and assemblies using metric hardware.
Installation is performed by hand-threading onto a mating M3x0.5 bolt or stud, then tightening with an appropriately sized metric wrench or socket. Power down or de-energize any equipment before servicing fastened assemblies on electrical or mechanical systems. Avoid over-torquing, as excessive force can damage the nylon insert and reduce locking effectiveness. Re-use of nylon insert lock nuts is possible for a limited number of cycles; replace if the nylon insert shows visible wear or the nut no longer provides resistance when threaded on by hand.
