The VALUE COLLECTION 78-1523 is a solid carbide Woodruff keyseat cutter designed for milling keyseat slots in shafts and workpieces where precise slot geometry is required. With a 2-inch cutter diameter and a 3/32-inch (0.0938 inch) cutting width, this tool is built for accurate, repeatable keyseat cutting across a broad range of metalworking applications. The micrograin carbide construction provides wear resistance and edge retention on demanding materials. It mounts via a 1/2-inch diameter shank and carries a bright, uncoated finish. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals use this cutter in vertical milling machines and machining centers.
The 78-1523 is suited for keyseat milling in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. The straight tooth configuration and 16-tooth count support clean, stable cuts in both production and maintenance machining environments. With an overall length of 2.75 inches and a neck diameter of 0.490 inch, the cutter provides adequate reach for standard keyseat depths while maintaining rigidity. This tool is appropriate for job shops, maintenance facilities, and production machine shops working across ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials.
Designed for use on vertical milling machines and machining centers equipped with standard 1/2-inch collets or end mill holders. Suitable for workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with milling machine setup and cutter handling. Secure the shank fully in a clean, properly sized collet or end mill holder before operation, and verify runout before cutting. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before mounting or removing the cutter. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to manage heat and extend tool life.
