The VALUE COLLECTION 724-6535 is a single-end cobalt roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it withstands the heat generated during heavy interrupted cuts better than standard HSS tooling. The 7/8 inch (0.875 inch) cutting diameter pairs with a 3/4 inch shank and a 1-1/8 inch length of cut, giving machinists a rigid setup for roughing passes on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. A TiN coating adds surface hardness and lubricity, extending tool life between regrinds. This end mill is installed and operated by machinists and toolroom technicians on manual mills and CNC machining centers.
This roughing end mill is suited for roughing operations on steel, stainless, cast iron, and similar materials where rapid stock removal is the priority before a finishing pass. The 3-flute geometry reduces cutting forces compared to 4-flute designs, making it effective in setups where rigidity or horsepower is limited. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional and climb milling on vertical mills and machining centers. The high helix style promotes efficient chip evacuation, which reduces recutting and heat buildup during deep passes.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use roughing end mill for vertical mills and CNC machining centers accepting a 3/4 inch straight shank tool holder or collet.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician. Secure the 3/4 inch shank in a properly sized collet, end mill holder, or set-screw holder and verify runout before cutting. Confirm the spindle and axis drives are fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before changing tooling. Follow the machine tool manufacturer guidelines and shop safety procedures when setting depth of cut and feed rates for roughing operations.
