The VALUE COLLECTION 724-6421 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in metalworking and machining applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, this end mill delivers strong wear resistance and heat tolerance when cutting ferrous metals and other tough materials. The cutting diameter measures 0.3125 inches (5/16 inch) with a 3/8-inch shank diameter and a 1.125-inch length of cut. A TiN (titanium nitride) coating further extends tool life by reducing friction and surface wear. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are standard, with a high helix style to promote efficient chip evacuation. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals rely on this geometry for roughing passes where material removal rate takes priority over surface finish.
This roughing end mill is suited for use on vertical machining centers, knee mills, and CNC milling equipment in job shops, manufacturing facilities, and maintenance repair operations. The center-cutting capability allows plunge entry, adding versatility for pocketing and slotting operations. With a 2-15/16-inch overall length and a 3/8-inch shank, it fits standard collets and end mill holders commonly found in production and prototype environments. Typical workpiece materials include alloy steels, tool steels, stainless steel, and other materials that benefit from cobalt tooling rather than standard M2 HSS.
Designed as a general-purpose roughing end mill compatible with standard 3/8-inch collets, end mill holders, and shrink-fit tooling systems used on vertical mills and CNC machining centers.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists following standard toolroom practices. Secure the shank fully within the collet or holder to the recommended engagement depth, and torque the retention system per the toolholder manufacturer specification before starting the spindle. Inspect the cutting edges and coating for chips or wear before each use. Do not exceed the recommended speeds and feeds for the workpiece material and depth of cut.
