The VALUE COLLECTION 724-5245 is a single-end roughing finishing end mill designed for aggressive material removal followed by finish passes in a single tool. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and coated with Titanium Nitride (TiN), it delivers extended tool life in ferrous and hard alloy workpieces. The 1-inch cutting diameter and 4-flute geometry with a 30-degree helix angle support efficient chip evacuation and surface finish quality. A Weldon flat shank at 0.75 inches in diameter provides positive drive engagement and minimizes slippage under heavy cuts. This end mill is used by machinists and tool-and-die professionals on vertical mills, CNC knee mills, and machining centers.
This end mill suits roughing and semi-finishing operations in steel, stainless steel, and cobalt alloys in job shop, production machining, and maintenance repair environments. The 4-inch length of cut accommodates deep-pocket and full-depth slotting applications. The right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting orientation are standard for conventional and climb milling on horizontal and vertical setups. It is a single-end tool, so the full shank is available for maximum grip length. Machinists working on mold bases, fixture components, and structural steel parts will find the geometry and coating combination well-suited to those materials.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit tooling option for standard 0.75-inch Weldon flat collet holders and side-lock tool holders used on vertical and CNC milling machines.
Installation is performed by a machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the milling machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the Weldon flat against the setscrew in a side-lock holder and tighten to the holder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning the cut, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on cobalt tools.
