The VALUE COLLECTION 724-5032 is a 4-flute, square-end roughing and finishing end mill designed for aggressive material removal combined with a refined finish in a single tool. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it offers superior heat resistance compared to standard M2 HSS tooling, making it well-suited for harder ferrous materials. The cutting edges feature a Titanium Nitride (TiN) coating to reduce friction and extend tool life. With a 1/4 inch cutting diameter, a 30-degree helix angle, and right-hand flute direction, this end mill is a reliable choice for milling operations where tool changes between roughing and finishing passes need to be minimized.
This end mill is intended for use in vertical milling machines, knee mills, and CNC machining centers in job shop, maintenance, and light production environments. The 3/8 inch Weldon Flat shank provides a secure, positive grip in standard end mill holders, reducing pullout risk under load. With a 1-1/8 inch length of cut and a 2-15/16 inch overall length, it is suited for moderate-depth slotting, profiling, and side milling operations. It is a single-end, right-hand cutting tool and is not center-cutting, meaning it is not intended for plunge drilling.
Designed for use in standard end mill holders with a 3/8 inch bore fitted with a Weldon Flat setscrew. Compatible with manual knee mills and CNC machining centers that accept straight-shank tooling of this diameter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the spindle is fully powered down and locked out before loading or unloading the end mill. Seat the Weldon Flat against the holder setscrew and torque the setscrew according to the holder manufacturer specifications. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, and select speeds and feeds appropriate for the workpiece material and machine rigidity.
