The VALUE COLLECTION 724-4152 is a 4-flute cobalt roughing finishing end mill designed for aggressive material removal and semi-finish milling in a single tool. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, this end mill handles tough ferrous and non-ferrous materials with a right-hand cutting direction and a 30-degree helix angle that promotes efficient chip evacuation. The 5/8-inch diameter with a matching 5/8-inch Weldon Flat shank provides positive drive and minimizes slippage under heavy cuts. The bright/uncoated finish suits applications where coating interaction with the workpiece material is a concern. Typically installed by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in manual or CNC milling setups.
This end mill is suited for roughing and finishing passes on ferrous metals, alloy steels, and similar materials in both job shop and production environments. The single-end, square-end geometry delivers sharp corner definition on slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling operations. The 2.125-inch length of cut provides adequate depth capacity for most standard milling applications, while the 4.25-inch overall length keeps deflection manageable at this diameter. The chipbreaker-free design and non-centercutting configuration mean this tool is intended for side milling and peripheral cuts rather than direct plunge entry.
Designed as a standard-geometry roughing finishing end mill compatible with 5/8-inch end mill holders and collet chucks that accept a Weldon Flat shank. Fits manual mills and CNC machining centers configured for right-hand rotation.
Install in a 5/8-inch end mill holder or collet chuck, ensuring the Weldon Flat seats against the set screw for positive retention before tightening to holder specifications. Confirm machine spindle rotation is set to right-hand before engaging the cut. This tool is not centercutting and should not be used for direct plunge milling. Follow shop-standard lockout/tagout procedures when changing tooling on any milling machine.
