The VALUE COLLECTION 724-4110 is a single-end roughing finishing end mill designed for aggressive material removal followed by semi-finish passes in one tool. Ground from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it holds up under heat generated by harder workpiece materials where standard HSS tools soften and deflect. The 1/2 inch diameter, 4-flute geometry with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation while maintaining a strong core. The bright uncoated finish keeps the tool at its ground dimensions with no coating buildup, making it a straightforward choice for shops that prefer uncoated tooling on cobalt-grade end mills.
This end mill fits standard CNC machining centers, manual knee mills, and bridgeport-style machines. The 1/2 inch Weldon flat shank provides positive drive and prevents slipping under heavy side-load cuts. With a 5/8 inch length of cut and 2-5/8 inch overall length, it suits shallow-to-moderate pocket milling, slotting, and peripheral contouring in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting orientation match conventional toolholder setups. It is not centercutting, so plunge entry requires a pre-drilled hole or ramp-in strategy.
Designed for use in standard 1/2 inch collet chucks, end mill holders, and Weldon-style set-screw toolholders on CNC machining centers and manual milling machines.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine in a full stop and power isolated from the spindle drive. Seat the Weldon flat fully against the set screw in the toolholder before torquing to prevent axial pullout. This tool is not centercutting and must not be used for direct plunge entry — use a ramping or helical interpolation entry strategy or pre-drill the entry point. Inspect the cutting edges for chipping before each use, as cobalt tooling can micro-chip if dropped or impacted.
