The VALUE COLLECTION 724-3254 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a TiN (titanium nitride) coating, this tool handles tough ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials while maintaining edge integrity under heat. It features a 1-inch cutting diameter, 5 flutes, and a 1.125-inch length of cut, making it well-suited for hogging passes where chip clearance and feed rate matter. The right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional vertical and horizontal milling setups. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals specify this style of end mill when roughing cavities, slots, and pockets prior to a finish pass.
This end mill is appropriate for use in job shop, production, and maintenance machining environments. Its 1-inch shank diameter fits standard collet chucks, end mill holders, and milling arbors sized for 1-inch shanks. The 3.625-inch overall length provides adequate reach for most conventional milling machine spindles and CNC machining centers. The 5-flute geometry supports higher feed rates compared to 4-flute designs, which is an advantage when roughing softer steels and aluminum alloys.
Designed as a direct-fit roughing end mill for any milling machine or CNC machining center equipped with a 1-inch end mill holder, collet chuck, or milling arbor accepting a 1-inch straight shank.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with milling machine operation. Secure the shank fully into the tool holder and torque the retention mechanism per the holder manufacturer's specification before engaging the spindle. This tool is non-center-cutting and must not be plunged directly into solid material — use a ramp entry, helical interpolation, or a pre-drilled pilot hole. Inspect the cutting edges and TiN coating condition before each use and replace the tool if chipping or excessive wear is observed.
