The VALUE COLLECTION 724-3086 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for high-material-removal-rate milling operations in machine shops and production environments. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, this tool handles tough ferrous and non-ferrous materials with improved wear resistance compared to standard HSS tooling. The 4-flute geometry with right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction delivers efficient chip evacuation during roughing passes. It has a 3/8 inch diameter, a 1.125 inch length of cut, and a 2-15/16 inch overall length, making it a compact, versatile choice for roughing slots, pockets, and profiles.
This end mill is suited for use in manual knee mills, CNC machining centers, and benchtop mills where aggressive stock removal is required before a finishing pass. The 3/8 inch shank diameter fits standard ER collet chucks, end mill holders, and Weldon-style holders commonly found in general-purpose machine shop setups. It is a single-end tool, meaning once the cutting end is worn, the tool is replaced rather than flipped. Machinists working in job shops, maintenance departments, and toolrooms will find this a practical roughing option for mild steel, alloy steel, and similar materials.
Designed as a standard 3/8 inch shank roughing end mill compatible with ER collet chucks, Weldon-style end mill holders, and similar toolholding systems accepting a 3/8 inch straight shank.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or holder to the recommended engagement depth before tightening. Because this tool is non-centercutting, do not plunge directly into solid material — use a pre-drilled entry point or a programmed ramp entry to begin cuts.
