The VALUE COLLECTION 724-3020 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a TiN (titanium nitride) coating, this tool handles tough ferrous and non-ferrous materials with extended tool life. The 1/4 inch cutting diameter pairs with a 3/8 inch shank diameter, providing rigid support during heavy cuts. Three right-hand flutes with a right-hand cutting direction deliver efficient chip evacuation. A 5/8 inch length of cut and 2-7/16 inch overall length make this mill suited for shallow-pocket and profile roughing passes. Installed by machinists and CNC operators in job shop and production environments.

This roughing end mill is used in manual mills and CNC machining centers for roughing passes on steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, and similar hard materials. The corncob-style roughing profile reduces cutting forces compared to standard end mills, allowing higher feed rates and deeper cuts per pass. The TiN coating improves surface hardness and reduces friction at the cutting edge, extending service intervals between tool changes. This is a non-centercutting tool and is not intended for plunge cutting into solid material.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Power down and lock out the spindle drive before inserting or removing the tool from the holder. Seat the shank fully into the collet or holder and torque the retention fastener according to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Do not use this non-centercutting end mill for plunge entries into solid stock — use a center-cutting tool or pre-drill an entry hole before engaging this mill.
