The VALUE COLLECTION 724-2263 is a single-end cobalt roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it handles tough ferrous and non-ferrous materials where standard HSS tooling falls short. The 1-inch diameter with a 5-flute geometry distributes cutting load across more edges, reducing chatter and extending tool life during heavy roughing passes. The bright, uncoated finish is suited for dry cutting or light lubrication applications. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals use this end mill in vertical milling machines and machining centers where stock removal rate is the priority before a finishing pass.
This roughing end mill is appropriate for general-purpose milling applications in job shops, maintenance machining environments, and production settings requiring controlled stock removal. The 1-inch shank diameter matches the mill diameter, allowing direct chuck or collet mounting without a reducer. The 2-inch length of cut accommodates full-depth slotting and peripheral milling in typical workpiece depths. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction make it compatible with conventional right-hand spindle machines. It is not center-cutting, so it is not suited for plunge entry without a pre-drilled pilot hole.
Designed as a direct-mount single-end roughing end mill for use in standard right-hand spindle vertical milling machines and machining centers accepting a 1-inch shank.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following all machine tool lockout and spindle-stop procedures before tool changes. Secure the shank fully into the collet or end mill holder to the recommended engagement depth specified by the toolholder manufacturer. Because this end mill is not center-cutting, avoid plunge milling without a pre-drilled entry point. Verify spindle direction and feed rate settings before engaging the cut.
