The VALUE COLLECTION 724-2155 is a single-end cobalt roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling applications. Manufactured from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers improved heat and wear resistance compared to standard HSS tooling. The 4-flute geometry produces a coarse chip-breaking action that reduces cutting forces and heat buildup during heavy cuts. With a 0.625-inch cutting diameter, a 2.5-inch length of cut, and an overall length of 4.625 inches, this end mill suits roughing passes on steel, stainless, and other ferrous materials in both manual and CNC milling setups. The bright, uncoated finish is standard for cobalt tooling used across general-purpose roughing work.
This end mill is suited for side milling, slotting, and profiling operations where rapid stock removal is the priority before a finishing pass. The right-hand cutting direction and right-hand flute helix are compatible with standard vertical and horizontal milling machines as well as CNC machining centers. It is not centercutting, so plunge cuts are not recommended. Machinists in job shops, maintenance facilities, and production environments regularly use this type of tooling on ferrous and harder non-ferrous workpieces where cobalt-grade heat resistance is needed.
Designed as a general-purpose roughing end mill for use in standard R8, CAT, BT, or HSK toolholding systems accepting a 0.625-inch shank diameter. Consult machine and toolholder specifications before use.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer guidelines. Ensure the milling machine spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing tooling. Secure the shank to the full recommended insertion depth in the end mill holder or collet to prevent tool pullout under cutting loads. This tool is not centercutting — avoid programming plunge moves directly into the workpiece.
