The VALUE COLLECTION 724-1254 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a TiN (titanium nitride) coating, it delivers extended tool life and heat resistance in demanding cutting applications. The 1-inch diameter cutter features 5 flutes with a right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction, providing efficient chip evacuation during heavy roughing passes. Center-cutting capability allows plunge entry into workpieces. With a 1.125-inch length of cut and a 3.625-inch overall length, this end mill suits a range of milling machine setups where stock removal rate is the priority.
This roughing end mill is suited for use on vertical and horizontal milling machines in job shop, production, and maintenance machining environments. The cobalt M42 substrate performs well in ferrous materials including alloy steels, stainless steel, and cast iron where standard high-speed steel tools lose edge integrity. The TiN coating adds surface hardness and reduces friction at the cutting edge. The 1-inch shank diameter seats directly in standard R8, CAT, or BT toolholders with a matching bore, and the single-end configuration is standard for most roughing applications where the tool is indexed from the holder rather than flipped.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard tooling option for 1-inch bore end mill holders used in vertical and horizontal milling machine setups requiring single-end roughing end mills.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician. Secure the shank fully into the end mill holder and tighten set screws or collet to the toolholder manufacturer's specified clamping torque before starting the spindle. Inspect the cutting edges and coating for chips or wear before each use. Do not exceed the recommended depth of cut or feed rate for the workpiece material and machine rigidity. Follow shop safety procedures including proper guarding and eye protection when operating milling equipment.
