The VALUE COLLECTION 724-1185 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a TiN (titanium nitride) coating, it delivers heat resistance and extended tool life in ferrous and non-ferrous applications. The 3/4 inch cutting diameter pairs with a 1.625 inch length of cut and a 3.75 inch overall length. Four right-hand flutes with a right-hand cutting direction produce the chip-breaking action that defines roughing geometry, allowing heavier passes with lower cutting forces than a standard end mill. This tool is installed by machinists and tool-and-die professionals on manual knee mills and CNC machining centers.
This roughing end mill suits roughing passes on steel, stainless, cast iron, and other tough materials where stock removal rate matters more than surface finish. The center-cutting design allows plunge entry as well as peripheral cuts. At 3.75 inches overall length with a 3/4 inch shank diameter matching the cutting diameter, it fits standard 3/4 inch ER or end-mill holders without a reducing collet. It is a practical choice for job shops, maintenance machining, and production roughing operations where cobalt tooling is preferred over carbide for interrupted cuts or setups prone to vibration.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard tooling selection for milling machines and machining centers that accept 3/4 inch end-mill holders, ER collets, or Weldon-style set-screw holders.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist. Secure the shank fully in the holder to the recommended engagement depth and torque the set screw or collet nut per the holder manufacturer specifications before starting the spindle. Confirm spindle speed and feed rate against the material being cut and the recommended parameters for cobalt tooling before engaging the workpiece. Inspect the cutting edges for chipping before each use and do not run a damaged tool.
