The VALUE COLLECTION 724-0185 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for high-material-removal-rate milling operations in ferrous and difficult-to-machine alloys. Manufactured from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers superior heat and wear resistance compared to standard M2 HSS tooling. The 3/4 inch diameter cutter features 4 flutes with a bright, uncoated finish and a 1-5/8 inch length of cut, making it well suited for aggressive slotting, profiling, and roughing passes where chip load and heat generation are primary concerns. Licensed machinists and toolroom operators are the primary users of this style of end mill.
This roughing end mill is used in manual knee mills, CNC machining centers, and bridgeport-style machines handling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys. The serrated or wave-form peripheral tooth geometry typical of roughing end mills breaks chips into smaller segments, reducing cutting forces and allowing deeper radial engagement per pass. A 3/4 inch shank diameter matches the cutter diameter for direct collet or end mill holder mounting without a reducer. The 3-3/4 inch overall length suits standard toolholding setups in vertical milling applications.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for 3/4 inch single-end roughing end mills using a 3/4 inch shank in standard collet chucks, end mill holders, or Weldon-flat holders on vertical milling machines and CNC machining centers.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel. Secure the 3/4 inch shank fully into a properly sized collet or end mill holder and torque the retention screw to the holder manufacturer's specification before engaging the spindle. Inspect the cutter for chipping or runout with a dial indicator prior to first use. Always set spindle speed and feed rate according to the workpiece material and shop-established cutting data for cobalt roughing end mills.
