The VALUE COLLECTION 724-0152 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, it measures 0.625 inches in cutting diameter with a 2.125-inch length of cut and a 4.25-inch overall length. The 4-flute, right-hand cutting geometry with right-hand flute direction produces the serrated chip-breaking profile characteristic of roughing end mills, reducing cutting forces and heat buildup during heavy stock removal passes. Machinists and toolroom professionals install this cutter in vertical mills, knee mills, and CNC machining centers for roughing operations on ferrous and nonferrous workpieces.
This end mill suits roughing applications in job shops, maintenance toolrooms, and production environments where high material removal rates are required before a finishing pass. The 5/8-inch shank diameter matches the cutting diameter, allowing direct installation in standard 5/8-inch collets or end mill holders without a reducer. It is center-cutting, making it capable of plunging directly into the workpiece when the operation requires it. Typical materials include steel alloys, stainless steel, and cast iron, where cobalt tooling provides superior heat resistance compared to standard M2 HSS.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use roughing end mill for standard 5/8-inch end mill holders, collet chucks, and Weldon-style holders used in vertical and CNC milling machines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom professional. Ensure the machine spindle is fully powered down and locked out before changing cutters. Seat the shank fully into the holder and torque the set screw or collet nut according to the holder manufacturer specification. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or damage before each use, and select appropriate cutting parameters based on workpiece material and machine rigidity.
