The VALUE COLLECTION 724-0044 is a single-end cobalt roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, this tool delivers the heat resistance and edge retention needed for harder workpiece materials. The 9/32-inch (0.2813 inch) cutting diameter pairs with a 3/8-inch shank and a 3/4-inch length of cut, making it well-suited for slotting and peripheral roughing passes where chip load and tool durability are priorities. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals use this style of end mill when surface finish is secondary to stock removal rate. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional CNC and manual milling setups.
This roughing end mill is intended for use on vertical and horizontal milling machines, machining centers, and manual knee mills. It is appropriate for ferrous and harder non-ferrous workpiece materials where a standard high-speed steel end mill would wear prematurely. The center-cutting geometry allows plunge entry as well as conventional side milling. Typical applications include roughing pockets, slots, and profiling cuts prior to a finishing pass with a standard end mill. The 2-1/2-inch overall length provides adequate reach for most common milling fixtures without excessive overhang.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use roughing end mill for standard 3/8-inch collets, end mill holders, and side-lock holders used in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered off before inserting or removing the end mill from the holder. Seat the shank to the recommended minimum insertion depth specified by the toolholder manufacturer to prevent pullout under cutting loads. Verify runout with a dial indicator after mounting and before initiating any cut.
