The VALUE COLLECTION 723-9070 is a 2-flute cobalt square end mill designed for material removal in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temperature alloy applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers heat resistance and edge retention well beyond standard HSS tooling. The mill measures 0.2756 inches in cutting diameter with a 9/16-inch length of cut, a 3/8-inch shank diameter, and a 2-5/16-inch overall length. The bright uncoated finish is well suited to applications where coating buildup or adhesion would interfere with chip evacuation. Machinists and tool-and-die technicians use this end mill for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling operations on manual and CNC equipment.
This end mill is configured as a single-end, centercutting tool with a right-hand cut and right-hand spiral flute at a 30-degree helix angle. The centercutting geometry allows for plunge entry directly into the workpiece without pre-drilling. It is suited to light-to-medium duty milling in job shops, maintenance environments, and production setups working ferrous metals and hard alloys. This is a regular-length series tool in the VCCC-C-2 series, sized for standard collet and side-lock tool holders accepting a 3/8-inch shank.
Designed for use in standard 3/8-inch collet chucks, end mill holders, and side-lock tool holders on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys per material codes P, M, K, and S.
Installation is performed by a machinist or tool crib technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before changing tooling. Seat the 3/8-inch shank fully into the collet or holder and torque the retention hardware per the machine tool manufacturer specifications. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before engaging the first cut, particularly when working high-temp alloys where tool deflection accelerates edge wear.
