The VALUE COLLECTION 723-9060 is a cobalt square end mill designed for material removal and profiling operations on ferrous and high-temperature alloy workpieces. It features a 6 mm (0.2362 inch) cutting diameter, a 1/2 inch length of cut, and a 3/8 inch shank diameter for secure toolholder engagement. Manufactured from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, this end mill maintains cutting-edge hardness at elevated temperatures generated during aggressive milling passes. The bright, uncoated finish is suitable for a broad range of general-purpose applications. Machinists and toolroom operators select this geometry for slotting, side milling, and contouring where a standard-length, two-flute configuration is appropriate.
This end mill is suited for use on manual mills and CNC machining centers running steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys. The two-flute configuration provides larger chip clearance compared to higher flute-count options, making it effective for slotting and applications where chip evacuation is a priority. The 30-degree right-hand helix and right-hand cutting direction are standard for conventional and climb milling on these material groups. Its regular-length profile fits typical general-purpose and toolroom machining scenarios without extended-reach holders.

Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and machine in a locked-out state. Ensure the 3/8 inch shank is clean and fully seated in the toolholder before torquing set screws or collet nuts to the holder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator after clamping, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on small-diameter cobalt tooling. Always confirm spindle speed and feed rate are appropriate for the workpiece material and cutting diameter before engaging the cut.
