The VALUE COLLECTION 723-8659 is a cobalt square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining environments. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers increased heat and wear resistance compared to standard HSS tooling, making it well-suited for harder workpiece materials. The cutter measures 0.4331 inches (11.00 mm) in diameter with a 1 inch length of cut and a 3/8 inch shank diameter. Overall length is 2.6875 inches. The 30-degree spiral flute geometry and four-flute configuration promote efficient chip evacuation and a smooth surface finish on milled features. This is a single-end, right-hand cut, right-hand flute tool with a bright uncoated finish.
This end mill is intended for use in vertical machining centers, knee mills, and CNC milling machines in shop environments where ferrous and non-ferrous metals are machined. The centercutting design allows the tool to be fed directly into the workpiece axially, enabling plunge cuts as well as conventional peripheral and slot milling. It is a regular-length series tool, making it appropriate for general-purpose profiling, contouring, and slotting operations where reach is not a limiting factor. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals working in production and job-shop settings are the primary users.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct substitute for 0.4331 inch diameter square end mills with a 3/8 inch shank, compatible with standard ER and side-lock toolholders sized for 3/8 inch shanks on vertical mills and machining centers.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer guidelines for tool retention torque and runout tolerance. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the tool from the holder. Confirm shank engagement meets minimum depth requirements for the collet or chuck style in use. Inspect the cutting edges for damage before each use and replace the tool if chipping or deformation is observed.
