The VALUE COLLECTION 723-8641 is a single-end square end mill designed for milling flat-bottomed slots, pockets, and contour profiles in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Ground from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers better heat and wear resistance than standard M2 HSS tooling, making it suitable for harder workpiece materials and higher-speed applications. The 8 mm cutting diameter pairs with a 0.75-inch length of cut and a 30-degree helix angle for efficient chip evacuation. Four right-hand spiral flutes provide a strong cutting edge with a good balance of material removal rate and surface finish. This tool is sold individually and is well suited for manual mills and CNC machining centers.
This end mill is used in machine shops, maintenance departments, and production environments for general-purpose milling operations. Typical applications include slotting, profiling, and face milling in mild steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and similar materials. The bright uncoated finish means the tool can be reground and is appropriate when cutting fluid is used directly on the cutting edge. The regular-length series designation places it in a standard overhang range for stable, vibration-free cuts in most setups. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals will find this tool straightforward to set up in a standard end mill holder or collet chuck.
Designed as a general-purpose replacement or production end mill for use in standard 3/8-inch collet chucks or end mill holders on manual or CNC vertical milling machines.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully in the collet or end mill holder and torque the retention hardware to the machine manufacturer specification. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before first cut when tight tolerances are required. Always apply appropriate cutting fluid or coolant compatible with cobalt HSS tooling and the workpiece material.
