The VALUE COLLECTION 723-6780 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Constructed from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a TiN (titanium nitride) coating, it delivers extended tool life in ferrous and non-ferrous applications. The cutter measures 7/8 inches (0.875 inches) in diameter with a 3/4 inch shank diameter, a 1-1/8 inch length of cut, and a 3-3/8 inch overall length. With 5 flutes and a right-hand cutting and flute direction, this end mill is suited for rapid stock removal passes where surface finish is secondary to material throughput. Installation and operation are handled by machinists and CNC operators in machine shop environments.
This roughing end mill is used in vertical and horizontal milling machines, CNC machining centers, and manual knee mills. It is well suited for roughing passes on steel, stainless steel, and other tough alloys where the M42 cobalt grade provides additional heat and wear resistance compared to standard M2 HSS tooling. The non-centercutting geometry means it is intended for peripheral cutting and side milling rather than plunge cuts. Typical applications include profile roughing, slot entry from the side, and pocketing operations where a pre-drilled entry point is used.
Designed as a standard-shank roughing end mill compatible with any milling machine or machining center equipped with a 3/4 inch collet, end mill holder, or Weldon-style side-lock holder.
This tool is installed and operated by machinists or CNC programmers in machine shop settings. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the end mill from the holder. Use a properly sized collet or end mill holder torqued to the machine manufacturer's specification to prevent tool pullout under heavy roughing loads. Verify runout with a dial indicator after clamping, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear and reduces tool life.
