The VALUE COLLECTION 723-6747 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a TiN (titanium nitride) coating, this tool handles tough ferrous and non-ferrous materials with extended tool life. It runs a 0.625-inch mill diameter with a 0.750-inch length of cut and four right-hand flutes configured for roughing passes. Licensed machinists and tool-and-die shops reach for this style of end mill when hogging out material ahead of a finish pass. The non-centercutting geometry means it is intended for side milling and peripheral cuts rather than plunge entry.
This end mill fits standard CNC machining centers and manual knee mills using a 0.625-inch shank, compatible with ER collet chucks, Weldon-style holders, and other 5/8-inch bore toolholding. At 2-7/8 inches overall length, it suits typical work envelope constraints in production and job-shop environments. It is a single-end tool, so the full shank is available for gripping depth. The right-hand cutting direction and right-hand flute orientation are the conventional configuration for standard spindle rotation on most vertical and horizontal machining centers.
Designed for use in 5/8-inch bore toolholders on CNC machining centers and manual mills; compatible with standard ER, Weldon, and shrink-fit holders accepting a 0.625-inch shank.
This end mill is installed by a machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank to the full recommended grip depth in the toolholder and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning the cut, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on roughing geometry.
