The VALUE COLLECTION 723-6736 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, it delivers elevated heat and wear resistance compared to standard HSS tooling. The 0.5-inch diameter cutter features 4 flutes and a 2-inch length of cut, making it well suited for slotting, profiling, and heavy-duty roughing passes on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals specify cobalt end mills when cutting tougher alloys where standard HSS falls short.
This end mill is applicable in job shop, production machining, and maintenance-and-repair environments. Its right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation match conventional milling setups on vertical and horizontal knee mills, CNC machining centers, and manual Bridgeport-style equipment. The non-center-cutting geometry means it is intended for side milling and peripheral cuts rather than plunge entry. The 0.5-inch shank diameter fits standard ER collets, end mill holders, and Weldon-style side-lock holders commonly found in both manual and CNC tooling systems.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct substitute for 0.5-inch single-end roughing end mills in standard ER, side-lock, or shrink-fit toolholders accepting a 0.5-inch shank diameter.
Installation is performed by machinists using standard toolholding equipment; ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked before inserting or removing the end mill. Secure the shank to the recommended torque specification listed in your toolholder manufacturer documentation. Inspect the cutting edges and TiN coating for chips or wear before each use. Do not use this tool for axial plunge cuts, as the non-center-cutting geometry is not rated for that operation.
