The VALUE COLLECTION 723-5829 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Constructed from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, it delivers the heat and wear resistance needed for harder workpiece materials. The cutter measures 1.25 inches in diameter with a 0.75-inch shank diameter, a 2-inch length of cut, and a 4.25-inch overall length. Six flutes provide a high chip load capacity with the characteristic corncob geometry that breaks chips and reduces cutting forces compared to standard end mills. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are standard. This tool is installed and used by machinists and CNC operators in job shops, manufacturing facilities, and toolrooms.
This roughing end mill is suited for semi-finish and roughing passes in ferrous and non-ferrous materials where rapid stock removal is the priority. The cobalt M42 construction makes it appropriate for harder alloys and stainless steels where standard high-speed steel tools lose performance. The non-centercutting geometry means it is intended for side milling, slotting from a pre-drilled hole, or profiling operations rather than plunge cutting. Extended reach and variable helix features are not present, keeping the design straightforward for general-purpose roughing work.
Designed as a general-purpose roughing end mill for use in manual vertical mills and CNC machining centers accepting a 0.75-inch shank diameter through standard collets, end mill holders, or milling chucks.
Installation is performed by machinists using appropriate end mill holders or collet chucks rated for the 0.75-inch shank diameter. Confirm tool runout with a dial indicator before cutting to minimize premature wear. This tool is not centercutting — do not use it for direct plunge operations without a pre-drilled clearance hole. Always follow the machine tool manufacturer's speed and feed recommendations for cobalt tooling in the specific workpiece material.
