The VALUE COLLECTION 723-5789 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Manufactured from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, this tool handles tough ferrous and non-ferrous materials with strong heat and wear resistance. The 7/8-inch diameter body features 5 flutes with a right-hand cutting and flute direction, producing a characteristic wavy edge geometry that breaks chips into smaller segments and reduces cutting forces across the length of cut. The 3.5-inch length of cut and 5-3/4-inch overall length suit it for moderate-depth profiling and hogging passes. It is a non-centercutting design, intended for peripheral cuts rather than plunge entry.
This roughing end mill is used in manual and CNC vertical milling applications across job shops, maintenance machining, and production environments. It performs well in roughing passes on carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless, and cast iron where rapid stock removal is the priority before a finishing pass. The bright, uncoated finish makes tool wear easy to monitor visually. The 7/8-inch straight shank fits standard ER collet chucks, end mill holders, and Weldon-style holders common in both knee mills and machining centers. It is a single-piece unit sold individually.
Designed as a standard-shank roughing end mill compatible with 7/8-inch ER collet chucks, end mill holders, and Weldon-style tool holders used in vertical knee mills and CNC machining centers.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and the machine locked out per shop safety procedures. Seat the shank fully and evenly in the holder before torquing set screws or collet nuts to the tool holder manufacturer's specification. Inspect the cutting edges and shank for damage before each use. As a non-centercutting tool, program entry via a pre-drilled hole or ramp path — do not program a direct axial plunge.
