The VALUE COLLECTION 723-4445 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, it carries a 7/16-inch (0.4375-inch) cutting diameter and a 3/8-inch shank diameter. The 1-inch length of cut and 2-11/16-inch overall length make it well suited for shallow-to-moderate depth passes in ferrous and non-ferrous metals. With three flutes and a high-helix, right-hand cutting geometry, this tool breaks chips efficiently and reduces heat buildup during roughing passes. Licensed machinists and toolroom professionals install and operate this end mill on manual or CNC vertical milling machines.
This roughing end mill is intended for stock removal on steels, stainless alloys, and similar materials where a standard end mill would chatter or deflect under load. The three-flute design balances chip evacuation with core strength, making it appropriate for side milling, slotting, and profiling operations where surface finish is secondary to material removal rate. Its centercutting capability allows plunge entry, adding versatility in production and job-shop environments. The compact overall length reduces overhang and improves rigidity at the spindle.
Designed as a standard-shank roughing end mill compatible with 3/8-inch collets, end mill holders, and milling chucks used on vertical milling machines and CNC machining centers.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and locked out before loading or removing the end mill from its holder. Verify collet or holder bore matches the 3/8-inch shank diameter and that the tool is seated to the full depth of the holder before tightening. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or damage before each use, as cobalt tooling can fracture under interrupted cuts if an edge is compromised.
