The VALUE COLLECTION 723-4114 is a cobalt square end mill designed for milling ferrous and hard materials in machining centers and manual mills. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers improved heat and wear resistance compared to standard HSS tooling. The 4-flute, double-end configuration provides two usable cutting ends, extending tool life and reducing cost per edge. With a 5/8 inch cutting diameter, 1-3/8 inch length of cut, and 5 inch overall length, this end mill suits a wide range of slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling operations. The bright uncoated finish is suited for use with cutting fluids on steel, stainless, and high-temp alloys.
This end mill is intended for use in production and job-shop environments where cobalt tooling is specified for harder workpiece materials. The right-hand cut and right-hand spiral flute geometry with a 30-degree helix promotes efficient chip evacuation during climb and conventional milling. The centercutting design allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece. Typical applications include steel, cast iron, and high-strength alloy milling where standard HSS tooling wears prematurely. Both ends are functional, making this a practical choice for shops looking to maximize tool utilization.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct substitute for standard 5/8 inch cobalt square end mills in fractional-inch tooling systems. Fits any ER, R8, CAT, or BT toolholder rated for 5/8 inch shank diameter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked before inserting or removing the end mill from the toolholder. Verify runout with a dial indicator after seating to confirm proper grip and minimize vibration. Follow shop-specific feeds, speeds, and depth-of-cut guidelines for cobalt tooling in the workpiece material being machined.
