The VALUE COLLECTION 723-3927 is a single-end, 6-flute cobalt square end mill designed for milling operations that demand durability and heat resistance. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it handles harder workpiece materials and higher cutting temperatures than standard HSS tooling. The cutter measures 1.25 inches in diameter with a 2-inch length of cut, a 1-inch shank diameter, and a 4.5-inch overall length. A 30-degree helix angle promotes smooth chip evacuation and reduces chatter. The bright/uncoated finish suits applications where coating compatibility or re-sharpening ease is a priority. This end mill is sold individually and is appropriate for use in manual mills and CNC machining centers.
This end mill is suited for side milling, slotting, and profiling operations on ferrous metals, stainless steels, and other tough materials where cobalt tooling is preferred over carbide for its toughness and regrindability. The 6-flute configuration provides a higher feed-per-tooth capability compared to 4-flute designs, making it well-suited for finishing passes and semi-finish cuts in steel and alloy workpieces. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional milling setups. Centercutting geometry allows plunge entry.
Designed as a standard fractional-inch shank end mill for use in manual knee mills, bridgeport-style mills, and CNC machining centers equipped with end mill holders or ER collet systems accepting a 1-inch shank diameter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with proper tooling setup and machine operation. Secure the shank fully within the holder to the recommended engagement depth before tightening — never grip on the fluted cutting portion. Verify spindle speed and feed rate calculations match the material being cut and the cutter diameter before engaging the workpiece. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or damage before each use, and follow the machine manufacturer guidelines for torque specifications on set screws or collet nuts.
