The VALUE COLLECTION 723-3652 is a cobalt square end mill designed for milling operations requiring a short, rigid cutting profile. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, this stub-length tool offers improved heat and wear resistance compared to standard HSS, making it well-suited for harder workpiece materials and interrupted cuts. The 3-flute geometry balances chip evacuation with surface finish quality. With a 30-degree helix angle and right-hand cut and flute direction, this end mill is center-cutting and capable of plunging into material. It is sold as a single-end tool with a bright, uncoated finish. Machinists and toolroom technicians working in job shops, manufacturing facilities, or maintenance environments will find this tool appropriate for general-purpose milling applications.
This end mill fits standard milling machine spindles, CNC machining centers, and manual knee mills that accept a 1/4-inch shank. The stub length makes it particularly useful in tight setups where extended reach would introduce deflection or chatter. It is appropriate for milling ferrous metals, stainless steel, and other alloys where cobalt tooling is preferred over standard HSS. The bright, uncoated surface is compatible with most cutting fluids and coolants, though this tool does not feature internal coolant-through capability.
Designed as a drop-in replacement for stub-length, 3-flute cobalt square end mills with a 3/32-inch cutting diameter and 1/4-inch shank diameter on standard milling machine and machining center spindles.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Secure the 1/4-inch shank in a collet or end mill holder, ensuring proper runout is verified before cutting. Always power down and lock out the spindle before changing tooling. Follow the machine tool manufacturer and applicable shop safety guidelines for speeds and feeds appropriate to cobalt end mills and the specific workpiece material.
