The VALUE COLLECTION 723-2080 is a double-end cobalt square end mill designed for precision metal removal in demanding machining applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers superior heat and wear resistance compared to standard HSS tooling. The cutter measures 7/8 inches in diameter with a 1-9/16 inch length of cut and a 5-1/2 inch overall length. The 30-degree right-hand spiral helix promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. With two flutes and a center-cutting geometry, this end mill handles both plunging and peripheral milling operations. Machinists and toolroom operators in job shops, manufacturing facilities, and maintenance departments are the primary users.
This end mill is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys. The bright uncoated finish makes it a reliable choice for general-purpose slotting, profiling, and facing operations where lubrication is applied at the cutting zone. Its double-end design provides two usable cutting ends, extending tool life between regrinds. Typical applications include contour milling on manual or CNC knee mills and vertical machining centers operating in the fractional-inch system.
Designed for use in standard 7/8 inch end mill holders, collet chucks, and Weldon-style holders on manual knee mills and CNC vertical machining centers. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer torque and runout specifications for the holder type in use. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered off or in an e-stop state before changing tooling. Verify shank seating depth and runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut. Always apply an appropriate cutting fluid or coolant when machining stainless steel or high-temperature alloys to protect tool life and workpiece finish.
