The VALUE COLLECTION 723-2008 is a double-end, two-flute cobalt square end mill designed for precision milling operations on ferrous and high-temperature alloy materials. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, this end mill measures 1/8 inch in diameter with a 3/8 inch length of cut and a 3-1/16 inch overall length. The bright, uncoated finish is standard for cobalt tools intended for regrinding. A 30-degree right-hand spiral helix and right-hand cutting direction provide efficient chip evacuation and clean edge geometry. Center-cutting capability allows for direct plunge entry without pre-drilling. Installed by machinists and tool-and-die professionals, this end mill is suited for slot milling, profiling, and step milling in production and toolroom environments.
This end mill is rated for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys, corresponding to ISO material codes P, M, K, and S. The double-end design effectively doubles tool life per unit, making it a practical choice for shops managing tooling costs on repeat operations. The 3/8 inch shank diameter is compatible with standard collets and tool holders used in vertical machining centers, knee mills, and CNC routers running fractional-inch tooling. Extended reach is not configured on this tool, so it is best suited to shallow-to-moderate depth applications within its rated length of cut.
Designed for use in standard 3/8 inch collets and end mill holders on vertical machining centers, manual knee mills, and CNC milling machines running fractional-inch tooling. Rated for steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temperature alloy workpieces.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety protocols. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or holder and verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning cuts. Follow manufacturer and machine tool guidelines for feeds, speeds, and depth of cut appropriate to the workpiece material and setup rigidity.
