The VALUE COLLECTION 723-1646 is a cobalt square end mill designed for metal removal in demanding machining applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers better heat and wear resistance than standard HSS tooling, making it suitable for cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys. The double-end configuration doubles tool life by providing two usable cutting ends. With a 5/32-inch cutting diameter, 7/16-inch length of cut, and a 30-degree helix angle, this end mill balances chip evacuation with cutting stability in a compact, regular-length package.
This end mill is suited for manual mills and CNC machining centers used in job shops, maintenance environments, and production settings working primarily with ferrous and high-temp alloy materials. The centercutting geometry allows plunge cuts in addition to peripheral and slot milling. The 3/16-inch shank diameter fits standard collets and end mill holders commonly found in light-duty vertical mills and small machining centers. It is appropriate for applications where a small-diameter, short-reach tool is needed to machine tight features or contoured profiles.
Compatible with primary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys (material codes P, M, K, S). Designed for use in standard 3/16-inch collets and end mill holders on vertical knee mills, manual mills, and CNC machining centers.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and machine power locked out. Ensure the collet or end mill holder is clean and free of chips before seating the shank. Verify runout after installation to protect the tool and workpiece. Follow the machine manufacturer and tooling supplier guidelines for appropriate feeds and speeds based on workpiece material and depth of cut.
