The VALUE COLLECTION 723-1608 is a cobalt square end mill designed for precision milling operations in demanding metalworking applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, this double-end tool offers a 3/32 inch (0.0938 inch) cutting diameter with a 9/64 inch (0.1406 inch) length of cut. The two-flute geometry and 30-degree right-hand spiral helix promote efficient chip evacuation and reduce heat buildup during cuts. At 2 inches overall length with a 3/16 inch shank diameter, this stub-length mill fits standard collet setups on vertical mills and machining centers. The bright uncoated finish suits shops that prefer to apply their own coatings or work with materials sensitive to coating chemistry.
This end mill is suited for milling slots, pockets, and profiles in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys. Its double-end design provides two usable cutting ends, extending tool life between replacements. The centercutting capability allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece without a pre-drilled pilot hole. Typical users include tool-and-die shops, maintenance machinists, and production operators running ferrous and nickel-alloy materials on manual or CNC milling equipment.
Designed for use on ferrous workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys. Fits standard 3/16 inch collets or end mill holders on vertical milling machines and CNC machining centers.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the 3/16 inch shank fully into the collet or end mill holder and torque the retaining nut per the tool holder manufacturer's specification. Inspect both cutting ends for chipping or wear before each use; a damaged cutting edge can pull or chatter and damage the workpiece.
