The VALUE COLLECTION 723-1403 is a single-end cobalt ball end mill designed for milling curved surfaces, contoured profiles, and three-dimensional features in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, this cutter delivers enhanced heat and wear resistance compared to standard HSS tooling, making it well-suited for harder workpiece materials and higher-feed applications. The 3/16 inch diameter ball nose geometry produces accurate radii and smooth floor finishes in slots, pockets, and die cavities. With a bright, uncoated finish and right-hand spiral fluting, it runs effectively in a wide range of general machining conditions without specialized coolant requirements.
This end mill is used in manual mills, CNC machining centers, and benchtop milling machines for toolroom work, mold making, die finishing, and general contouring operations. The 1/2 inch length of cut accommodates moderate-depth passes, while the 3/8 inch shank diameter provides rigid tool holding in standard R8, collet, or end mill holder setups. It is appropriate for machinists, tool-and-die makers, and maintenance shops working with steel, stainless, aluminum, and similar materials at production or job-shop volumes.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or stock tooling option for use with standard 3/8 inch end mill holders, collets, or R8-compatible tooling systems on vertical milling machines and CNC machining centers.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following standard tooling setup procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and locked before inserting or removing the end mill from the tool holder. Verify the shank is seated to the proper depth in the collet or holder and torque the drawbar or retention knob according to the machine manufacturer specifications. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or damage before each use, and select feed rates and speeds appropriate for the workpiece material and machine rigidity.
