The VALUE COLLECTION 723-1225 is a cobalt square end mill designed for material removal and profiling in metalworking applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers heat resistance and edge retention when cutting ferrous metals and hard alloys. The tool features a 0.5 inch mill diameter, a 2 inch length of cut, and a 4 inch overall length. A 30-degree right-hand spiral flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. The bright uncoated finish is suitable for general-purpose machining where coatings are not required. This is a single-end tool with center-cutting capability, allowing it to plunge as well as profile.
This end mill is intended for use on vertical mills, CNC machining centers, and knee mills in job shop, maintenance, and production environments. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys. The cobalt M42 grade makes it well-suited for tougher materials that would accelerate wear on standard high-speed steel tooling. It is used by machinists and tool-and-die professionals for slotting, side milling, and peripheral milling operations. The 0.5 inch shank diameter fits standard ER and end mill holders common to most manual and CNC setups.
Designed as a general-purpose replacement or production end mill for standard 0.5 inch end mill holders and collet chucks used in vertical milling and CNC machining applications on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following standard tooling change procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and locked before changing or seating the tool. The shank should be fully engaged in the holder to the recommended depth before tightening. Verify runout with a dial indicator after clamping to confirm proper seating before initiating a cut.
