The VALUE COLLECTION 723-1146 is a cobalt square end mill designed for high-performance milling of ferrous and difficult-to-machine materials. Built to M42 cobalt high-speed steel grade, it delivers superior hardness and heat resistance compared to standard HSS tooling. The cutter measures 1.75 inches in diameter with a 1.625-inch length of cut and a 0.75-inch shank diameter, making it a regular-length, single-end tool suited for face milling, slotting, and profiling operations. The 2-flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation in tougher materials. The bright/uncoated finish makes it easy to inspect for wear during service intervals.
This end mill is intended for use in vertical and horizontal milling machines, machining centers, and manual knee mills. Its M42 cobalt construction and 30-degree right-hand helix angle make it particularly well suited for cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys. It is a single-end tool, meaning the cutter geometry exists on one end only. Machinists, tool-and-die makers, and maintenance technicians working in job shops, production environments, or MRO settings are the primary users. The right-hand cutting direction and spiral flute design are standard for conventional milling setups.
Designed for use with milling machines and machining centers accepting a 0.75-inch shank diameter. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys (ISO material codes P, M, K, and S).
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer's guidelines. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before changing tooling. Use a properly sized collet or end mill holder rated for the 0.75-inch shank diameter and ensure the tool is clamped to the full recommended engagement depth. Do not exceed the rated cutting parameters for the workpiece material and verify runout with a dial indicator before commencing cuts.
