The VALUE COLLECTION 722-3145 is a single-end square end mill designed for milling flat surfaces, slots, and shoulders on ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It features a 1.625-inch cutting diameter, a 2-inch length of cut, and six spiral flutes ground from M2 high speed steel. A titanium nitride (TiN) coating increases surface hardness and reduces friction at the cutting edge, extending tool life in moderate to high-volume applications. The 30-degree right-hand helix and right-hand cut geometry promote efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals install this end mill in vertical and horizontal milling machines.
This end mill is suited for general-purpose milling operations in job shops, production environments, and maintenance machining. The 1.25-inch shank diameter fits standard ER and side-lock toolholders used on knee mills, CNC machining centers, and manual bridgeport-style machines. The 4.5-inch overall length fits typical spindle-to-work clearances for face milling, peripheral milling, and profiling cuts. The regular-length geometry keeps deflection low during full-depth passes. Non-center-cutting design means this tool requires a pre-drilled hole or side entry when plunging is required.
Designed as a general-purpose replacement or production end mill for milling machines and CNC machining centers accepting a 1.25-inch shank diameter in standard collet or side-lock toolholding systems.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists familiar with milling machine toolholding systems. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully and evenly in the toolholder to the recommended gauge-line depth and torque the retention hardware per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, as excessive runout accelerates flute wear and reduces surface finish quality.
