The VALUE COLLECTION 722-3049 is a single-end square end mill designed for milling flat surfaces, slots, and shoulders in a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Manufactured from M2 high speed steel with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, it delivers improved surface hardness and wear resistance compared to uncoated HSS tooling. The cutter measures 9/16 inches in diameter with a 1/2-inch shank, a 1-3/8-inch length of cut, and a 3-3/8-inch overall length. Its four-flute spiral geometry provides a balance of chip clearance and surface finish quality suitable for general-purpose milling operations. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals install this type of end mill in CNC machining centers, knee mills, and manual milling machines.
This end mill is intended for regular-length, fractional-inch applications on manual and CNC milling equipment. The 30-degree helix angle and right-hand cut with right-hand flute configuration makes it a standard choice for conventional and climb milling on steel, cast iron, and similar materials. It is a non-centercutting design, meaning it is not suitable for direct plunging; side milling, peripheral milling, and slotting from an edge entry are the appropriate applications. Part of the VC-HSS-4-TN series, it follows fractional inch sizing conventions common in North American machine shops.
Designed as a standard fractional-inch replacement or service end mill for manual knee mills and CNC machining centers accepting a 1/2-inch straight shank. No specific OEM or system compatibility was stated in the product data.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists following standard toolholding procedures for the machine in use. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and locked before inserting or removing the end mill from its collet or end mill holder. Verify runout after tool installation and confirm the machine spindle speed and feed rate are appropriate for the workpiece material and cutter diameter before engaging the cut. Because this is a non-centercutting end mill, always initiate cuts from the edge of the workpiece or a pre-drilled hole rather than plunging directly into solid material.
