The VALUE COLLECTION 722-1043 is a single-end, square-profile end mill designed for milling, slotting, and peripheral cutting operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built from M2 high speed steel and coated with titanium nitride (TiN), it delivers improved surface hardness and heat resistance compared to uncoated HSS tooling. The 0.5-inch diameter cutting head features two right-hand spiral flutes at a 30-degree helix angle and a 1-inch length of cut, with an overall length of 3 inches and a 0.5-inch shank diameter. This is a regular-length, center-cutting tool, meaning it can plunge as well as profile cut. It is sold as a single unit and suits manual mills, CNC knee mills, and light-duty machining centers.
This end mill is suited for general-purpose milling work where a fractional-inch, two-flute HSS tool is specified. The two-flute geometry provides larger chip clearance, making it a practical choice for softer materials, slotting passes, and applications where chip evacuation is a concern. The TiN coating extends tool life in moderate-speed cutting of steel, aluminum, brass, and similar materials. The right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction conform to standard spindle rotation on conventional milling equipment.
Designed as a standard fractional-inch square end mill compatible with any milling machine, CNC machining center, or manual knee mill equipped with a 1/2-inch collet, end mill holder, or Weldon-style tool holder accepting a 0.5-inch shank.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and the machine locked out per applicable shop safety procedures. Seat the shank fully into the holder and torque the set screw or collet nut to the holder manufacturer specification. Verify runout at the cutting diameter before beginning a cut. Cutting parameters — speed, feed, and depth of cut — should be selected based on workpiece material and machine rigidity; consult a speeds-and-feeds reference appropriate for TiN-coated M2 HSS tooling.
