The VALUE COLLECTION 720-9050 is a single-end square end mill designed for material removal, slotting, profiling, and contouring operations on a milling machine or CNC machining center. It is ground from M2 high speed steel and features a bright, uncoated finish. The cutting diameter is 5 mm (0.1969 inches), the length of cut is 0.5 inches, and the 3/8-inch shank provides secure tool holding in standard collets and end mill holders. The 30-degree right-hand spiral flute geometry promotes chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces across a broad range of workpiece materials. Machinists and toolroom technicians are the primary installers and users of this tooling.
This end mill is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and aluminum and non-ferrous materials in both manual and CNC setups. The 2-flute configuration provides adequate chip clearance when cutting softer metals and non-ferrous alloys, and also performs acceptably in ferrous materials at appropriate feeds and speeds. At 2-5/16 inches overall length with a 3/8-inch shank, this tool fits standard R8, ER, and other common collet systems used on knee mills and vertical machining centers. It is a centercutting design, allowing plunge entry into the workpiece.
Designed for use in standard end mill holders, ER collet chucks, and R8 collets accepting a 3/8-inch shank. Compatible workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and aluminum and non-ferrous alloys per the manufacturer material codes P, M, K, and N.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer guidelines for tool clamping torque and runout. Ensure the spindle and machine are powered off and locked out before seating or removing the tool from the holder. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant for the workpiece material being machined. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use and replace when edge condition degrades to avoid poor surface finish or workpiece damage.
